Roucou is a shrub producing red fruits and traditionally used by Native Americans, who smear it all over their bodies to protect their skin from the sun and insects (see description of Roucou oil). As for Carapa, this large tree is a powerful repellent that successfully repels the most harmful insects, as well as parasites and mites (see description of Carapa oil). Native Americans use the fruit, as well as the bark and leaves, for their anti-inflammatory properties. Roucou combined with Carapa makes it an effective treatment oil for insect bites, reducing the pain of any kind of insect bite. Reduces the pain of a wasp, horsefly, or ant sting. It prevents swelling after a firefly or fly bite for no reason (wasps in Guyana). It treats and disinfects a spider bite, for example, or even agouti lice.
